Beverly Johnson is Director of Prevention Services at the Alabama Department of Mental Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Division. In her role at the Alabama Department of Mental Health, Beverly is responsible for monitoring compliance with federal block grant and three discretionary grants for prevention services. In addition, Beverly maintains and reviews certification standards, monitoring compliance and manages the development, implementation and continuation of the Substance Abuse Services prevention programming within the State of Alabama.
With 15+ years of substance abuse experience, Beverly is a Substance Abuse Prevention Skills (SAPST), Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper Trained professional. Beverly is Past Chairwoman of the Capitol City’s neighborhood development Advisory Board, a member of the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Advisory Board and an ex-officio member of the State Prevention Advisory Board. In addition, Beverly is the Southeast Regional Representative for the National Prevention Network (NPN).
She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Auburn University at Montgomery and her Master of Public Administration from Jacksonville State University.
