Suicidal Risk Assessment Tools

There are many tools out there for assessing the risk of suicidal thoughts in another or in yourself. Some of the them are short, meant to be administered as quickly as possible before more rigorous assessment is conducted, and some of the resources below are more comprehensive.

Risk Factors & Warning Signs

While there is no definitive list of suicidal behaviors, some characteristics are more likely to appear in someone planning on attempting suicide. These resources were compiled with the idea that, if individuals were more aware of some of the factors and warning signs, then we all might stand a better chance at preventing the next suicide.

I'm Suicidal

If you are contemplating suicide, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

We have compiled these resources in an attempt to provide reassurance and general information to those who feel that they are in crisis.

Suicide Safety Plans

Suicide safety plans are an integral part of ensuring that a suicidal individual has a support system in place to prevent them from completing. The following resources have been compiled to educate those contemplating suicide and outside support on how best to make a safety plan and what needs to be included in any good safety plan.

Other Ways to Help

Beyond creating a suicide safety plan, there are other alternative ways in which outside individuals can help someone contemplating suicide. These resources were compiled in an effort to educate others on these varying methods.

Community Resources

Sometimes, it takes a village, and that’s okay. Having a strong community of support around suicidal individuals can sometimes be the deciding factor. These resources were compiled to provide community resources to hopefully prevent the next suicide.
